The Department of Health Sciences has an international reputation for research and teaching aimed at improving and better understanding health and healthcare.

Challenging courses enable students to achieve professional registration as nurses or midwives and we offer postgraduate programmes in public health, health sciences and health services research. We provide a flexible, dynamic and relevant CPD curriculum to meet the learning needs of the health and social care workforce.

The excellence of our research was recognised in the 2008 Research Assessment Exercise in which we were rated equal first nationally for health services research and fourth for nursing and midwifery.
